Facilities

The image on the right shows the labs (high-lighted) that are associated with the AlloSphere. With the exception of the Vision Research Lab, these labs are located on the second floor of Elings Hall. For a description of each lab, click on the lab, or select from the links below.

The VivoNets Lab

Research in the ViVoNets Lab is concerned with all aspects of the transmission of voice, audio, still images, and video over mulithop, wireless, heterogeneous networks. On-going research in the Lab includes the design of lossy compression methods for voice, audio, and video, the development of new functionalities for existing compression methods, joint source/channel coding, packet loss concealment and robust encoder design, PHY/MAC/Application cross layer designs, adaptive modulation and coding, source and channel diversity methods, and end-to-end performance optimization for the human user. The overarching goals of all of the work is to advance the understanding of fundamental limits on system performance and to contribute to the state-of-the-art in digital signal processing, perceptually based performance measures, source coding, channel coding, and modulation.
