Quantum Dots

Quantum Dots are nano-scale semiconductors with unique properties caused by their highly tunable properties that depend on their size.

size: 2-10 nm, around 3 million in a thumb's width

QD Displays:

They have a very narrow emission spectrum, so the perception of color coming from them appears to be richer and this absolute monochromatic nature discards the neccesity of using color filtering. This results in a fraction of power consumpotion compared to normal LED's, since more light generated reaches the viewer's eyes.

QD Solar Cells:

Tunable bandgaps make them a perfect material for solar cells. Thier size is modified in order to increase their efficiency in absorption of solar radiation to match the spectrum.
