Project Description
In this project we attempted to make a visual document, which contrasted cultural noise with signal noise as its driving metaphor. The video tended to illustrate the notion of compression noise in the first part, but implemented the notion of cultural noise in the second part. The over-arching body imagery and action tended to overpower the technical noise considerations.
The result was partially successful, but it generated much discussion.
Project Methods
This project was developed in Processing and Apple Final Cut Pro. We pre-processed video to look for changes in between frames. Where there was change, that information would be left out. Superpixels of 8x8 were layered on top of the changes video regions. A final result video was compiled and created within Final Cut Pro. Links to related sites are presented below:
